This Privacy Policy explains how Appostu SRL ("Appostu," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards information when you visit our website (appostu.com) or use any of our mobile applications, including Essential Oils Guide - doTERRA (together, the "Services"). This Policy applies generally across all Appostu Services; where an app has its own specific data practices, those are described in the app-specific section near the end of this Policy. By using our Services, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here. If you do not agree, please do not use our Services.

1. Who We Are

2. Information We Collect

Depending on which Service you use, we (directly or through the third-party providers listed in Section 3) may collect:

  • Information you provide directly: your name, email address, or phone number when you contact us; and, if a Service offers sign-in, the name, email address, and profile identifier we receive from Google Sign-In or Apple Sign-In when you choose to use them.
  • Device and usage data: IP address, device model and operating system, app version, language settings, crash logs, and how you interact with our website or apps (pages viewed, screens visited, features used, time spent).
  • Advertising and analytics identifiers: mobile advertising identifiers (such as IDFA on iOS or the Google Advertising ID on Android) and similar identifiers used by our analytics and ad-attribution providers, as described in Section 3.
  • Purchase information: if you buy a subscription or in-app purchase, our payment/subscription provider (Adapty) and the relevant app store (Apple App Store or Google Play) process your payment and share limited transaction data with us (such as product purchased, price, and subscription status) — we do not receive or store your full payment card details.
  • Content you save within an app: such as favorited oils, blends, personal notes, or a saved inventory/shopping list. This content is stored locally on your device unless you sign in, in which case it may also be stored in your account so it can sync across your devices.
  • Cookies (website only): we use cookies and similar technologies on appostu.com to operate the site and analyze usage. You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings.

3. Third-Party Services We Use

We rely on the following third-party service providers, who process data on our behalf or independently as described in their own privacy policies. We share only the data necessary for each provider to perform its function:

  • Google Firebase (Analytics and Crashlytics) — app and website usage analytics and crash reporting.
  • Google AdMob — displays ads within our apps and may use advertising identifiers to do so.
  • Google AdSense — displays ads on our website (appostu.com).
  • Meta (Facebook) SDK — used solely for ad-campaign attribution: we use it to measure the performance of our own marketing campaigns (e.g., which install came from which ad). It does not display Meta/Facebook ads inside our apps.
  • Mixpanel — product usage analytics, to understand how features are used and improve our Services.
  • Adapty — manages in-app subscription paywalls and reports purchase/subscription events; actual billing is always handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play.
  • Google Sign-In and Apple Sign-In — optional authentication providers, used only if you choose to sign in.

Each provider may process data outside your country of residence, as described in Section 8 (International Data Transfers).

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain our website and apps.
  • Let you sign in and keep your saved content (favorites, notes, inventory) in sync across devices, if you choose to use an account.
  • Process and manage subscriptions and in-app purchases.
  • Understand how our Services are used and improve them, through analytics.
  • Measure the performance of our advertising campaigns and show ads that help keep our apps free.
  • Respond to your inquiries and provide support.
  • Comply with legal obligations and protect our rights and the safety of our users.

5. Legal Basis for Processing (EU/EEA/UK Users)

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases to process your information:

  • Performance of a contract: to provide the Services you request, including accounts and subscriptions.
  • Consent: for optional features such as sign-in, and for advertising/analytics identifiers where consent is required by applicable law.
  • Legitimate interests: to maintain and improve our Services, keep them secure, and measure the effectiveness of our marketing, balanced against your rights.
  • Legal obligation: where we must process data to comply with the law.

6. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information for money. We may share information in the following cases:

  • Service providers: with the third parties listed in Section 3, who process data to provide analytics, advertising, sign-in, and subscription management on our behalf or for their own analytics/advertising purposes as permitted by law.
  • Legal requirements: if required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Appostu, our users, or the public.
  • Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

Note for California residents: because our ad-attribution and analytics providers may receive device/advertising identifiers in connection with advertising, this may be considered a "share" of personal information under the CCPA/CPRA, even though no money changes hands. See Section 11 for how to opt out.

7. Advertising, Analytics & Your Choices

You have several ways to control advertising and analytics data:

  • Device-level ad controls: you can reset or limit your advertising identifier, or opt out of personalized ads, in your iOS or Android device settings.
  • Google Ads Settings: manage personalized advertising at adssettings.google.com.
  • Meta ad preferences: manage how Meta uses your data for ads at facebook.com/adpreferences.
  • App Tracking Transparency and similar consent frameworks: where required by applicable law — such as Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework on iOS — we request your permission before using identifiers to track you across apps operated by other companies.

8. International Data Transfers

Appostu SRL is based in Romania (EU). Several of our service providers (including Google, Meta, Mixpanel, and Adapty) are based in, or process data in, the United States or other countries outside the EU/EEA. Where we transfer personal data internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards recognized under GDPR, such as Standard Contractual Clauses, or the provider's own certified compliance mechanisms.

9. Data Retention

We retain personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy — for example, for as long as you maintain an account, plus a reasonable period afterward for legal, security, or accounting purposes. Content stored only on your device (such as offline favorites or notes) remains there until you delete it or uninstall the app.

10. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Your Rights

If you are in the EU, EEA, or UK (GDPR): you have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of your personal data; to receive a portable copy of it; to object to certain processing; and to withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.

If you are a California resident (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion or correction of it, to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information (see Section 6), and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

12. Cookies (Website)

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to operate the site, remember preferences, and analyze traffic (via Firebase Analytics and Google AdSense). You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings; disabling cookies may affect some site functionality.

13. Children's Privacy

Our Services are not directed to individuals under the age of 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If we become aware that someone under 16 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete it. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

14. Third-Party Links

Our website and apps may contain links to third-party sites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those external sites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any personal information.

Essential Oils Guide - doTERRA (iOS & Android)

Not affiliated with doTERRA. Essential Oils Guide - doTERRA is independently developed by Appostu SRL. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by doTERRA®. doTERRA™ is a trademark of doTERRA Holdings, LLC.

Locally stored content. Information you save in the app — such as favorite oils and blends, personal notes, your oil inventory, shopping lists, and saved health conditions — is stored on your device. If you choose to sign in with Google or Apple, this content may also be stored in your account so it can sync across your devices; otherwise it stays on your device and is not uploaded to us.

Health-related content. Any health condition or wellness information you save or view in the app is treated the same as any other saved content described above — we do not sell it, and we do not treat it differently from your other in-app preferences.
